The concept of the glass block factory project is based on establishing a factory that produces transparent, decorative, and colored glass blocks. The glass block consists of molds made of glass, which can be double or hollow. These artistic molds come in various shapes, such as convex, concave, or flat. The production of glass blocks involves bringing the necessary materials for the production process, then melting them at very high temperatures, and pouring the molten glass into ready molds. After that, the molds are subjected to air pressure with compression for a few seconds until we reach the stage of placing the molds in the cooling oven.
In 2021, the global glass manufacturing market was valued at approximately 106.44 billion US dollars and is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 5.2%, reaching a market value of 167.50 billion US dollars by 2030. It is noted that the demand for glass manufacturing products was estimated in 2022 at around 166.92 million tons, and by the end of 2030, the expected demand will reach 231.01 million tons, indicating an increase in demand at a compound annual growth rate of 3.9% during the forecast period.
The consulting company “Mashroo3k” recommends investing in a glass block factory in the Sultanate of Oman due to the government’s direction towards building a diversified economy that enhances the contribution of non-oil sectors to the GDP. Undoubtedly, the construction sector is at the forefront of these sectors. It is noteworthy that the number of building permits in the Sultanate reached 23,780 in 2019, and the number increased in 2020 to 31,379 permits, indicating a 32% increase in the total number of building permits.
